Mad River Canoes: Explorer/Lightweight
photo
Kevlar brand fiber, Core Cell foam, and a skin coat of resin rather than gel coat make this the lightest of the Mad River Explorers. Designed for weight savings and efficient paddling, this canoe is the least impact and abrasion resistant of our Explorer models.

Explorer/Lightweight

When weight savings is a primary consideration and where usage will be confined to lakes and smooth flowing rivers, the Lightweight Explorer is an ideal choice. This sophisticated craft, with its stiffer and more efficient paddling hull, is well-suited to situations where weight reduction is more critical than impact resistance. At just 42 lbs., it is a perfect Mad River canoe for seniors or any paddlers who car-top or portage frequently.
